Your community centres

City Waterside Community Centre in Hanley East and Rectory Road Community Centre in North Shelton were established to support the local communities during the neighbourhood renewal process.

The City Waterside Community Centre was opened in 2005 with Lee Carroll as the Neighbourhood Worker while Dave Robb has been the Neighbourhood Worker at the Rectory Road Community Centre since it was opened in 2007.

The centres and the two Neighbourhood Workers are funded by Renew North Staffordshire, managed by The Sanctuary Housing Group and supported by Stoke on Trent City Council.

The community centres provide a central hub for residents where groups, communities and residents can get together for a variety of events from photography clubs to afternoon tea, and also provide a central point where residents can become directly involved in the regeneration of their communities.

The Neighbourhood Workers support and develop specific projects which contribute to the physical, environmental, social and economic well being of the neighbourhood.

Various key agencies hold surgeries at the centres to keep residents informed of the activities that are taking place in the area as well as the options available to them through changing times.

What's on at the community centres?

There's a calendar of regular meetings and events for each of the community centres and if we're going to be holding a special event, such as one of our Fun Days, they will be announced here too.
